About

I am just your average mom trying my best to raise polite children that don’t embarrass me in public. I have a wonderful husband who is trying his darndest to retire from the Navy, but  there are forces working against him.  We homeschool our children.  We teach them fun things like Latin (and now Greek, heaven help me!), Algebra and Biology in the hopes that someday they will find a career that they love.

The Navy has been good to us, and we have been fortunate to live in Singapore, Illinois, Florida, my own home state of Washington, and now South Carolina.

In the past this blog was a journal of my life. From toe-walking, homeschooling, daily trips with my kids, and military nonsense, it was all here. My children are older now and I am nearing the end of my homeschooling journey. I even managed to graduate one and send him off to college. Homeschooling is hard. I see blogs that make it look so easy and fun. It hasn’t been easy for me or even very fun for me most of the time. However, it is worth it.

Welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

My son wants to get into the Navy when he gets out of school.

    • The Navy has been very good to us. My husband will have 25 years when he retires next year. He has been all over the world, and we have made very good friends. Does he know what he wants to do? There is a saying in the Navy, “choose your rate. Choose your fate.” All the jobs are important, but it is true that some are more demanding than others. They are compensated for that, but it is good to go in with your eyes open. Best wishes to him. I would not be upset if one of my kids chose the navy.

He does not really know…He is worried about taking the ASVAB Test, he is not that good at taking tests, and not very good at math.

  7. Hi. Enjoying your chemistry – did you write on all the modules? I only see 1,3,7,8.

    • Hello! Thanks for stopping by. My original plan was to write up all the modules, but I didn’t realize how much work it was going to be. I have plans in the near future to add some videos for Module 3 since that seems to be the one that everyone clicks on. What other modules do you think would be helpful?
